Sidney C. Lord Jr., born on September 21, 1920 in Nopal, Texas, was called home to be with the Lord on September 1, 2017 in New Braunfels, Texas at the age of 96 years and 11 months. Sidney was General Travis's personal pilot during WWII. As a veteran in the U.S. Air Force, Sidney attained the rank of Major, flying bombers. After his military service, he became an architect and enjoyed ranching, painting and flying sailplanes. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Edna Erle Lord and his son-in-law Ray Solis. Sidney was General Travis's personal pilot during WWII. As a veteran in the U.S. Air Force, Sidney attained the rank of Major, flying bombers. Sidney was survived by his loving daughter Cathy Solis and son Dr. Jeff Lord. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 10:00 am with a Chapel Service to begin at 11:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas with Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers family would like donations to be made to The Red Cross. Arrangements under the direction of Sunset Funeral Home, San Antonio, TX.
